1pm vs HoneyBook.
An honest comparison for anyone looking for a HoneyBook alternative. We make 1pm, so read it knowing that. Everything said about HoneyBook comes from its own website and help centre, checked in October 2026, and the sources are listed at the foot of the page.
The short version
HoneyBook is a CRM for independent service businesses: photographers, designers, DJs, coaches, consultants. It says more than 100,000 small businesses use it. It is strong on everything up to the paid booking, with proposals, contracts, payments, automations, a scheduler and native mobile apps, and it is available in Australia with pricing in Australian dollars.
1pm is an event booking CRM. It covers the same ground up to the paid booking, and then keeps going into the event itself, which HoneyBook does not: a run of show, onboarding portals, private crew and supplier links, BEOs, menus and a date check before a quote goes out.

Where HoneyBook is stronger
- Mobile apps
- Native iOS and Android apps. 1pm is a fully mobile responsive web app that runs in your phone's browser or any device.
- Payments
- Autopay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, instant deposit and tap to pay. 1pm takes card payments through Stripe and bank transfers.
- Automation builder
- A workflow builder with triggers, conditions and AI that drafts the workflow for you. 1pm has many built-in automations with a fixed set of triggers and unlimited actions.
- Integrations
- QuickBooks Online, Zapier, Calendly and more. 1pm connects to Xero, Stripe and calendars, and has no Zapier app.
- Any kind of service business
- HoneyBook suits a designer or a consultant as well as a photographer. 1pm is built for events and would be an odd fit if an event is not the focus.
Where 1pm is stronger
- It knows what a date is
- 1pm checks whether you or the room are free on the date in the lead before it replies, and stops a second client accepting a quote that clashes. We found no date check described on HoneyBook's site.
- The event day
- A live run of show with a private link for every second shooter, supplier and client, no login needed, that still opens without signal. HoneyBook lists no timeline or run of show feature.
- Venues and kitchens
- BEOs, a menu library with plate costing, and a diary for each room. HoneyBook lists none of these, which is fair: it was not built for venues.
- Collecting what the job needs
- Ask a client or a supplier for a named document, a photo list or an insurance certificate, and 1pm sends the reminders until it arrives.
- Xero
- 1pm sends invoices and payments to Xero. HoneyBook lists QuickBooks Online, FreshBooks and Wave, and not Xero.
- Price
- $20 a month (US dollars) with the scheduler and automations included. On HoneyBook those start on the Essentials plan, at A$69 a month billed yearly.
How to choose
Choose HoneyBook if the booking is the whole job for you: you want a polished proposal, a signed contract and the money, on a phone app, and nothing you do needs a timeline, a crew or a room. It also wins if you keep your books in QuickBooks.
Choose 1pm if the work is an event: there is a date that can clash, other people who need to know the plan, and a day that has to run to time.
The quickest test is to put one real booking through 1pm. The trial has every feature switched on, so you will know within a week whether it fits.
Questions about 1pm and HoneyBook
Yes. 1pm covers what HoneyBook does up to the paid booking (lead forms, proposals, quotes, agreements, deposits, invoices, a scheduler and automations), and adds the event itself: a date check, a run of show, crew and supplier links, BEOs, menus and rooms. HoneyBook has native mobile apps and QuickBooks, which 1pm does not.
