Resetting your password
If you can't remember your 1pm password, you can reset it yourself from the sign-in page. This article walks through the flow, the small print, and what to do if anything gets stuck.
Before you start
Password reset works for accounts where the email address has been verified. If you signed up but never confirmed your email, the reset link won't reach you and the request will go nowhere. In that case, email hello@1pm.app from the address on the account and we'll help you back in.
If you're not sure whether your email is verified, that's fine. Request the reset anyway and check your inbox. If nothing arrives within a few minutes, that's a strong sign the address was never confirmed.
How to reset your password
Go to 1pm.app and click Sign in.
Click Forgot password? under the password box.
Type the email address on your 1pm account and click Send reset link.
You'll see a confirmation that reads "If an account exists for that address, we've emailed a link to reset the password." This message is deliberately generic. 1pm shows the same response whether the address is registered or not, so attackers can't probe the site to find out who has an account. It doesn't mean we couldn't find you.
Open your inbox and look for an email with the subject "Reset your 1pm password". It comes from the mail.1pm.app sender domain.
Click Reset your password in the email. The link opens a page on 1pm.app with your email already filled in.
Type a new password, then re-enter it to confirm. The minimum is 8 characters.
Click Update password.
You'll be sent back to the sign-in page with a green confirmation that your password has been updated. Sign in with the new password and you're back in.
The reset link
A few details about the link in the email:
It's valid for 24 hours from when you requested it. After that it stops working and you'll need to request a new one.
It's single-use. Once you've reset your password with it, the link is dead. Requesting a fresh reset always invalidates any older links for the same account.
Resetting your password signs you out of any other devices where you were logged in. If you were signed in on your laptop, your phone, and a colleague's machine, all three sessions end when the password changes. You'll need to sign in again on each device.
If your account was temporarily locked from too many wrong sign-in attempts, completing a password reset also clears the lock. You won't need to wait out the lockout.
Troubleshooting
The reset email didn't arrive.
Check spam, junk, and Gmail's Promotions or Updates tabs first. Reset emails come from the mail.1pm.app sender domain.
If it's still not there, the most likely cause is that the email address on your account was never verified. Password reset only sends to verified addresses. Email hello@1pm.app from the address on the account and we'll sort it out.
The other possibility is that you typed a slightly different address into the Forgot password form than the one on your account. Try again with the exact address you signed up with.
The page says the link is invalid or has expired.
Reset links expire 24 hours after they're issued, and they only work once. If you've already used a link, or it's been more than a day since you requested it, request a fresh one from the Forgot password page. The new link replaces the old one immediately.
If you requested several resets in quick succession, only the most recent link works. The older ones are invalidated as soon as a new one is issued.
The link opens but the form rejects my new password.
Passwords need to be at least 8 characters. If you're under that, the form will say so. There's no requirement for symbols, numbers, or upper/lower case mix, but you can use them if you want.
If both password fields don't match exactly, the form will say "Passwords don't match." Re-type them and try again. Watch for trailing spaces from copy-paste.
I never verified my email and now I can't sign in.
Email hello@1pm.app from the address on the account. A real person reads that inbox and we can verify your identity and reset the password manually. Mention that your email was never verified and we'll know which path to take.
Something else.
Email hello@1pm.app and we'll help. Include the email address on the account and a rough time you tried the reset, and we can trace it on our side.
