Clearing the whole run of show
Sometimes the fastest way forward is a blank slate. You pasted a run of show into the wrong event, a template came in with rows you do not want, or you would rather rebuild the day from scratch than pick it apart row by row. Clear all empties the whole timeline in one action, and because it is reversible, you can do it without holding your breath.
How it works
Open the event in the planner. In the action bar above the timeline, alongside Paste in and Copy out, there is a Clear all button. Click it and 1pm asks you to confirm first, in a proper dialog rather than a browser pop-up, so a stray click never wipes a run of show. Confirm, and every item on the timeline is removed at once.
It can be undone
Clearing is a soft delete, not a shredder. As soon as the timeline empties, a short toast appears at the bottom of the screen with an Undo button. Click it and every item you cleared comes back exactly where it was, same times, same order, same details. Nothing is lost.
The undo holds for a window after you clear, so you have a moment to look at the empty timeline and change your mind. Once that window passes the cleared items are gone for good, so treat Undo as your safety net for a slip rather than a long-term recycle bin.
When to reach for it
- Rebuilding from a paste. Clear all pairs with Paste in for a full rebuild: clear the timeline, then paste your reworked run of show in fresh. This is the round trip described in Copying out the run of show, where you Copy out, edit the text wherever you are fastest, Clear all, and Paste back in.
- Starting an event over. If a template or a duplicated event landed with a timeline you do not want, clearing it is quicker than deleting rows one at a time.
If you only want to remove some of the items rather than all of them, do not use Clear all. Turn on Select mode instead, tick the rows you want gone, and use Delete selected, which is also undoable. See Shifting or deleting several items at once.
Good to know
- It clears this event only. Clear all touches the timeline of the event you are looking at and nothing else. Other events, your contacts, your Spaces and everything outside the run of show are untouched.
- Crew see the empty timeline live. Once you clear, anyone with the share link open sees an empty run of show on their next refresh, so if you are rebuilding, do it in one sitting rather than leaving crew looking at a blank day. If you clear by mistake, Undo restores it for them too.
- The clear and the restore are in the change history. Like every edit to the timeline, clearing and undoing are recorded, so the audit trail always shows what happened and when.
For recovering individual items rather than a whole clear, see Undoing changes and recovering deleted things.
