Shifting or deleting several items at once
Most edits on the run of show are one row at a time: change a start time here, delete a spare row there. But sometimes a whole block of the day moves together. The ceremony slips, the venue hands you an earlier access time, or a rehearsal you pasted in twice needs half its rows removed. Select mode lets you tick several timeline items and act on all of them in one go: shift every selected item earlier or later by the same amount, or delete them together.
Turning on Select mode
Open the event in the planner. In the action bar above the timeline, next to Paste in and Copy out, there is a Select toggle. Turn it on and each row's drag handle is replaced by a checkbox. Nothing else about the row changes, so times, titles and the rest stay exactly where they were; you are just choosing rows for a moment.
Tick the items you want. A selection bar appears with a running count and two actions, Shift times and Delete selected. Turn Select off again at any point to go back to normal editing, including drag-to-reorder; your selection clears when you leave the mode.
Because the timeline redraws itself constantly (every inline edit, and every live update from someone else on the event, repaints the rows), your ticks are held separately and re-applied after each refresh. You can keep selecting while the run of show is live and collaborative without losing your place.
Shifting several items in time
Click Shift times and a small dialog opens, sized for a phone so you can do this standing in a venue:
- A direction toggle, Earlier or Later.
- Preset chips: 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes. Tapping a chip applies straight away, no extra confirm.
- A custom field with its own Apply, for any other number of minutes.
Every selected item moves by the same amount, so the gaps between them are preserved. Shift a whole afternoon 15 minutes later and the shape of the day survives, just later. If an Earlier shift takes an item back past midnight, it rolls onto the previous day rather than landing at a nonsense time.
The shift applies immediately and shows a short toast at the bottom of the screen, reading something like "Moved 6 items 15m earlier", with an Undo button. Look at the result, and if it was not what you wanted, hit Undo to put everything back. The undo holds even if someone else edited a different row in the meantime.
This is a sibling of the per-row Push control. Push resolves a single overrun by nudging one item (or cascading the rest of the day) so items sit back-to-back; see Pushing the timeline when an item runs over. Select-and-shift is the manual version: you choose exactly which rows move and by how much, gaps kept intact.
Deleting several items together
Click Delete selected and 1pm asks you to confirm, then removes all the ticked rows at once. Like every delete in 1pm this is a soft delete, so the same toast offers an Undo if you change your mind. Handy for clearing out a duplicated block from a double paste-in, or stripping the rehearsal rows off an event once the real day is set.
If you want to empty the whole timeline rather than pick rows, use Clear all in the action bar instead, which is quicker for a full reset and also undoable. See Copying out the run of show for the Copy out, Clear all, Paste in round trip.
Good to know
- Nothing here is billing-gated. Editing and deleting your own run of show always works, whatever the state of your subscription.
- Every move and delete is written to the change history, one entry per item, exactly as a drag-to-reorder or a single edit is. The audit trail always shows what shifted or went, and when.
- Crew see it live. Once you shift or delete, the new run of show is live, and any crew member with the share link open picks it up on their next refresh, the same as any other edit.
- The ids come from your ticks, not the screen. When you shift or delete, 1pm acts on exactly the rows you selected, even if the timeline repainted underneath you, and it checks every one belongs to this event before touching it.
- Durations are never changed by a shift. A 45-minute item is still 45 minutes long after it moves; only its start time changes.
